1. Freelancers & Independent Contractors
Track billable hours per client and project with multiple daily time entries. Calculate weekly invoice amounts instantly by multiplying actual hours by your project hourly rate without needing dedicated time-tracking software.
2. Hourly Employees
Verify your timesheet before submitting to payroll — check that break deductions are correct, overtime is calculated at the right threshold, and your total hours match what you tracked during the week.
3. Small Business Owners
Calculate weekly labor costs for hourly staff before running payroll. Spot potential overtime before it's incurred by tracking hours mid-week and adjusting schedules accordingly.
4. Remote Workers with Flex Schedules
Track non-standard work sessions across a day or week when schedules vary daily. Multiple sessions per day with independent break deductions allow accurate tracking of asynchronous work patterns.
5. HR & Payroll Administrators
Spot-check employee timesheet submissions for obvious arithmetic errors before batch processing. Quickly confirm that overtime thresholds match your jurisdiction's labor law requirements.
How is overtime calculated?
Overtime triggers when daily hours exceed 8h (or your configured daily threshold) OR when weekly cumulative hours exceed 40h (or your weekly threshold) — whichever applies first. US FLSA standard overtime rate is 1.5× for all hours over 40/week. Configure thresholds to 37.5h for UK contracts or custom values for other jurisdictions.
Can I calculate hours for overnight shifts that cross midnight?
Yes — entering a start time of 10:00 PM and end time of 6:00 AM correctly calculates 8 hours by detecting that the end time falls on the following day. The calculator handles cross-midnight shifts seamlessly without manual adjustment.
Can I export my timesheet?
Yes — download a CSV of your completed weekly timesheet for import into Excel, Google Sheets, QuickBooks, or accounting software. A printable PDF format is also available for physical record-keeping or client billing submissions.
Does it handle multiple time entries per day?
Yes. You can add multiple start/end pairs for a single day (e.g., 9 AM–12 PM then 1 PM–5 PM) with separate break deductions for each session. All sessions for a day are summed toward the daily and weekly totals.
Is my timesheet data stored or shared?
No. All time calculations and pay estimates run entirely in your browser. No timesheet entries, hourly rates, or total hours are transmitted to SimplyUtils servers. Your work data stays completely private.
