What is an iCal (.ics) file and which apps support it?
An .ics file follows the RFC 5545 iCalendar standard — a universal format supported by Apple Calendar, Microsoft Outlook (desktop), Google Calendar, Thunderbird, and virtually all modern calendar applications on iOS, Android, Windows, and macOS.
How does the timezone handling work?
When you select a timezone, the tool converts your local date/time to UTC for platforms that require it (Yahoo), or appends TZID parameters for platforms that support named timezones (Google, iCal). This ensures attendees in different regions see the correct local start time.
Can I include a video conference URL in the event?
Yes — paste your Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, or WebEx URL into the Location or Description field. Most calendar apps will display clickable links from the description field, making it easy for attendees to join virtually.
Is my event data stored or transmitted anywhere?
No. All URL encoding and .ics file generation happens entirely in your browser using JavaScript. SimplyUtils never receives, stores, or transmits your event details, attendee lists, or location data.
Strict Local Sandbox Security: All calendar link construction and iCal file generation runs entirely in your browser. Your event data is never uploaded or stored.
